Sustainable Futures Trust is the not-for-profit arm of our organisation. We contribute our time and financial resources to many different projects including organising and facilitating sustainability workshops and deep ecology retreats; rainforest restoration; and creating our Foresthaven education and retreat centre. One of the Trust's major projects is the annual Environmental Excellence Awards for high school students across the Northern Rivers region of NSW.

Sustainable Futures has awarded high school students for their environmental excellence since 1994. The awards were first given to students at Maclean High School, and the scope of the awards has expanded throughout the Northern Rivers Region, from Coffs Harbour to the Tweed Coast. Many participating schools consider the Environmental Excellence Award to be a key divisional award, alongside their traditional academic, cultural and sporting awards. We also offer an equivalent award for a student from Southern Cross University. |
| objectives of the award |
The awards recognise excellence in 'sustainability' or 'environmental action and awareness' shown by students. The winning students have demonstrated interest, leadership, passion and commitment towards environmental excellence and sustainability through actions, programs or effort either in school or in their community. |
